On My Honeymoon Cruise, I Returned to Our Suite for Medicine — Then I Overheard My Husband Planning to P.u.s.h Me Into the Sea for My $300 Million The warm breeze over the Evermere Isles should have felt like the beginning of happily-ever-after. Instead, by the third day of my honeymoon, something felt terribly wrong. The Mercer Star—a multimillion-dollar luxury yacht given to us as a wedding gift by my billionaire father—suddenly felt less like paradise and more like a floating cage. For three days, I had been fighting an unnatural exhaustion. My husband, Adrian Cole, kept stroking my hair and assuring me it was only seasickness. Every night, he carefully handed me two small white pills. “Take these, Claire. You’ll feel better.” I trusted him. Until that afternoon. I woke from another heavy sleep with my head spinning. Something inside me insisted I get up. Using the polished wooden wall for support, I slowly left our suite and made my way toward the staircase. Halfway down, my legs nearly gave out. I grabbed the brass railing and tried to catch my breath. Then I heard champagne glasses clink below. Followed by laughter. “How are you handling the dosage, Adrian?” I recognized the voice immediately. Thomas Cole. My father-in-law. “Relax, Dad,” Adrian replied casually. “Two pills every night. I added a little extra to her soup today too.” My heart began pounding. “By midnight,” he continued, “she’ll barely be able to keep her eyes open.” I stopped breathing. Thomas lowered his voice. “So tonight?” “Tonight,” Adrian answered. “There’s a storm coming after midnight. Most of the crew will be inside.” A short pause. “I’ll take Claire onto the aft deck and tell her she needs some fresh air.” Then he laughed softly. “One little p.u.s.h… and the ocean does the rest.” My hand tightened around the railing. Then another voice joined them. Margaret Cole. My mother-in-law. The woman who had spent months calling me her “sweet daughter.” “And the trust?” Thomas asked. “When do we get the money?” Adrian chuckled. “I got Claire to sign the power of attorney before the wedding.” My stomach turned. “Once she’s officially declared lost at sea, the three hundred million starts moving.” Margaret laughed. “She actually believes she married Prince Charming.” Then Thomas asked: “What about her parents?” Adrian’s answer made my entire body go cold. “They’re traveling through the mountains next week.” He paused. “My people are already prepared.” Margaret said nothing. Adrian continued. “A tragic brake failure on an icy road. Everyone will call it an a.c.c.i.d.e.n.t.” I covered my mouth before a sound could escape. They were sitting aboard my father’s yacht. Drinking his champagne. And calmly discussing how to erase my entire family. Then the dizziness returned. Hard. Whatever Adrian had been giving me was still moving through my system. My knees weakened. The ocean thundered against the yacht outside. Midnight was only hours away. I was alone in international waters, surrounded by people pretending to be family. And now I knew exactly what they had planned for me. The only question was… Thank you for taking the time to read this part of the story This is only the first part; the continuation and the ending have already been posted in the comments (I know you’re all very curious about the next part, so if you want to read more, please leave a “”YES”” comment below!)
