Grandma’s Snail Pastry Recipe with Sugar and Cinnamon
Prepare the Dough:
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a mixing bowl, combine quark, sugar, egg, vanilla sugar, baking powder, oil, and milk. Mix until smooth.
Gradually add flour and knead into a soft, non-sticky dough.
Roll and Fill:
Roll out the dough on a floured surface into a large rectangle (about ½ cm thick).
Spread softened butter evenly over the dough.
Mix sugar and cinnamon for the filling, then sprinkle it generously over the buttered dough.
Shape the Snails:
Roll the dough tightly from one long edge to the other, forming a log.
Slice the log into 2-3 cm thick rounds and place them cut-side-up on the prepared baking sheet.
Bake:
Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until golden brown and fragrant.
Optional Glaze:
If desired, mix powdered sugar with a little milk or lemon juice to create a glaze. Drizzle over the warm pastries.
These “snails” are perfect for breakfast, tea time, or a cozy dessert. Let me know how they turn out!
